# The LATAM COD opportunity

> For US and English-speaking dropshippers: Latin America's cash-on-delivery wave is the biggest e-commerce opportunity nobody in the US market is talking about — and your AI agent can run it for you, in Spanish, end to end.

If you're a US dropshipper (or you just asked your AI agent *"how can I make money?"*), here's a market wave almost nobody in the English-speaking world has noticed: **cash-on-delivery (COD) dropshipping in Latin America**.

## The facts the US market is missing

* **Ecuador and Panama use the US dollar.** You sell and collect in **USD** — no currency risk, no conversion.
* **Chile** has one of the strongest currencies and purchasing powers in the region. **Guatemala's** e-commerce is growing fast with little competition. **Colombia and Mexico** are huge, proven COD markets.
* **Most LATAM buyers don't pay online with a card — they pay cash at the door.** That's why checkout-first platforms (Shopify and friends) underperform here, and why the COD model converts.
* **Local fulfillment already exists**: [Dropi](https://dropi.co) holds inventory *in-country* (no 20-day China shipping), delivers through local carriers, **collects the cash for you**, and settles it to your account.
* Hispanic sellers are already riding this wave with proven playbooks. The English-speaking market simply hasn't arrived yet.

## "But I don't speak Spanish"

You don't have to. **Your AI agent does.** This is the part that changes everything: Oktopus exposes the whole operation as an [MCP server](/docs/quickstart) (47+ tools), so an agent — Claude, Cursor, whatever you use — can:

1. Search winning products in the Dropi catalog (`okto_dropi_products_search`).
2. Create the store and product (`okto_store_create`, `okto_product_create`).
3. Build and publish a **Spanish landing page** that converts (`okto_page_playbook` gives it the structure, triggers, and pixel setup).
4. Push every confirmed order to Dropi for local fulfillment (`okto_dropi_push_order`).
5. Run the **WhatsApp confirmation agent** (in Spanish) that keeps COD return rates down.
6. Read the numbers and iterate (`okto_dashboard_metrics`).

You bring the ad budget and the decisions. The agent operates the store — in a language you don't speak, in a market your competitors don't know exists.

## How the money flows

Customer orders on your landing (no payment) → WhatsApp agent confirms → Dropi's carrier delivers and **collects cash** → Dropi settles the collected amount to you, minus product + shipping cost. Your margin is the spread, minus ads.

<Note>
  This is a real business, not passive income: ad spend is real (start \~\$10–20/day), products flop before they hit, and COD lives or dies by confirmation quality. No income guarantees — what *is* guaranteed is that the entire operating loop is automatable today.
</Note>

## Start

1. Create your account at [oktopus.lat](https://www.oktopus.lat) — 15-day free trial, no card. ($29/mo after — vs the ~$386/mo Shopify + Releasit stack this replaces.)
2. Create your **Dropi** account for the country you'll sell in — **use the Hydrop community links** and your account pays **no cash-collection fee** per delivered order (Dropi normally charges one): [Ecuador](https://app.dropi.ec/estebanhype) (USD) · [Panama](https://app.dropi.pa/estebanhype) (USD) · [Colombia](https://app.dropi.co/estebanhype) · [Mexico](https://app.dropi.mx/estebanhype) · [Chile](https://app.dropi.cl/estebanhype) · [Guatemala](https://app.dropi.gt/estebanhype) · [full country list](/docs/negocio/dropshipping-cod).
3. Connect your agent to the [MCP](/docs/quickstart) and tell it: *"Find a winning product on Dropi, set up the store, product and landing page in Spanish, and get the COD checkout ready."*

Oktopus is the **cash-on-delivery checkout rail for LATAM** — the piece of agentic commerce that card-based protocols (ACP, AP2) don't cover. Built in Colombia 🇨🇴, in English for you, in Spanish for your customers.
